What does it mean to seek the face of God? In Psalm 27 we find David offering praise and heartfelt devotion to God. David begins by referencing God as his light, salvation and stronghold. Which are three attributes that imply that David has found himself in dark situations where he needed to be saved, delivered, upheld and protected. In verse 4, David proclaims that his only desire, the one thing that he can ask for - is to dwell in the presence of the Lord every day of his life, again which implies that David understood something so all encompassing about the presence of God. David knew something so matter of factly about the presence of God - that it was the only life line he would request. and in verse 8 he shares a glimpse into the sincere condition of his heart by stating - “My heart says this about you, Seek his face.” From this chapter I gather that David knew first hand, the necessity, benefit and the privilege of seeking the face of God. - So what does it mean to seek the face of God - Simply this: Expanding our focus to include God in every moment of our lives. To pursue God’s presence not casually or passively - but actively and with intentionality. Committing a continuous effort to doing life WITH God, so that - we may have the benefit of knowing His grace, his sovereignty and majesty.
AFFIRM: My heart's desire is to seek God’s face. I look forward to doing life with God, daily!
PRAY: Lord, we thank you for the blessing that has already been administered on this day. We thank you for your love which would make available unto us the opportunity to get to know you on a deeper level. Something we could have never earned or obtained on our own. You first loved us. You first gave of yourself and our response today is thank you. Not just with our lips, but we say thank you with our time, our dreams and with our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
